Located to the south east of Havana this region achieved prominence for the failed attempted coup against Fidel castro in 1961. The area is ideal for nature lovers as the local swamp lands are home to many endemic species of flora and fauna. An ideal stopping place for those heading to Cienfuegos or Trinidad.
