Cuba - Car Hire
Having the flexibility of a car enhances your experience of this beautiful country - You are able to visit more off the beaten track places and do this at your own pace. Why not stop at a secluded beach for few hours.

There are few companies which offer Car Hire in Cuba though no international organisation is present, they are all local (therefore standards may vary to those one is used to in Europe or States).

There are some items payable locally: car insurance, drop off fees ( if not to the origin), additional driver fees, refundable deposit.

Please note: the insurance does NOT cover the following items, cassette player, speakers, hubcaps and rear mounted brake lights - therefore ensure when you pick up the car that these items are there and always park in a secure area.

Drivers need to be minimum of 21 years of age - for some vehicles the age limit goes upto 25 years. A full UK driving licence is acceptable to drive in Cuba.

We recommend that clients hire a model depending on how many people they have or the distance they plan on covering. From a simple Daewoo Matiz to a Citroen Xsara.

Due to fewer filling stations, it is advisable to pre-plan your route and if in doubt ask for assistance from the Car Hire office. Always make sure that you have a full tank of petrol.

In the evenings you will find that many areas do not have light, and it is therefore advisable to avoid driving at night since you will find locals driving without lights or cyclists riding around bearly visible.

It is important to note that Cyclists have right of way in Cuba and it is advisable to avoid them at all times. If you find there is one riding on the fast lane, you may have to overtake on the inside lane - once it is clear always blow your horn to let the cyclist know you are undertaking.

Please avoid picking up hitchhikers, merely for the fact that if something where to go wrong it may affect your insurance policy.

During peak periods finding a car to hire can be very difficult, so pre-book well in advance.
